Ascot United confirm Gavin Smith to lead Yellas into 2026/26 – Football in Berkshire

Isthmian League Ascot United have confirmed manager Gavin Smith will take the Yellas forward next season after the club kept its place at Step 4.

The Isthmian League South Central Division One side had a difficult season after losing in the play-offs the previous year, but finished three points clear of the drop zone.

Smith joined the club in the summer from Badshot Lea having previously played at the Racecourse Ground under Jeff Lamb and Paul McGrotty, he was also a crowd favourite at Bracknell Town during the 2000s.

The Yellas also confirmed Smith’s management team would remain in tact for next season.

Meanwhile National League South sides Maidenhead United and Slough Town have both confirmed members of their management teams for the 2026/27 season.

The Magpies have handed Ryan Peters a two-year contract after he took over from long-serving Alan Devonshire during the season. Peters has spent 12 years at York Road as player and Assistant Manager and led Maidenhead to the National League South play-offs where they were beaten by Dorking Wanderers.

A statement from the club said: “We are also delighted to confirm Aaron O’Brien, Liam Vaughan and Ryan Watts will continue their roles as part of Ryan Peters’ coaching staff.”

Slough Town have moved quickly to replace Scott Davies who has departed for Aldershot Town with former Stevenage Borough goalkeeper and Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Alan Julian taking over.

Ashley Smith, Slough Town CEO told the club website: “We are delighted that Alan Julian has accepted the role of first-team manager. Following an extensive recruitment process that attracted more than 100 applicants of an exceptionally high calibre, Alan stood out throughout.

“During the process, he demonstrated outstanding qualities both as a person and as a professional, as well as an excellent knowledge of the game and the National League South, together with a strong ambition to achieve success. His values and core principles are closely aligned with those of the club, which makes us excited for the next chapter at Slough Town.”

Julian has seen Tony Fontanelle depart the club but retained the services of a quartet of Davies’ staff in Ryan Case, Jefferson Louis, Alex Wines and Trent Phillips.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
