Finchampstead are Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League Division One Champions! – Football in Berkshire
Finchampstead Ladies will be preparing for life in the Southern Region Women’s Football League for the 2026/27 season after securing the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League Division One title.
An emphatic season saw the squad drop points just once to fellow Berkshire side Eversley & California, the team eventually finishing in third, back in October.
The stats speak for themselves
Unsurprisingly, their top goalscorer Ruby Huggins nabbed first place across the division having been prolific in front of goal with 31 goals to her name. Lauren Smaje and Lauren Chennells both found themselves in the top 5 of goalscorers with Smaje scoring 13 and Chennells ten. But with many players contributing to the tally, they managed to notch up 80 collective goals.
Their success has come at the other end of the pitch, having conceded just 14, nine at home and 5 away with the plaudits going to their goalkeeper Vicki Armstrong. The stats include six clean sheets in the league as well.
Cup success
The success hasn’t just been in the league however, they made their debut in the First Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup with a very convincing 7-0 win over Milton United. They fell foul to a 3-1 defeat to Penn & Tylers Green in the Second Round, a more than impressive scoreline given the Tier 6 opposition were on a title charge for the season.

And if that cup run wasn’t impressive enough, the squad made it to the Berks & Bucks Women’s Trophy Final at just the third time of asking, having made it the second round in the 2023/24 season and to the quarterfinals in 2024/25.

First Round: Bracknell Cavaliers Valykries 0-4 Finchampstead
Second Round: Finchampstead 23-0 Stanford-in-The-Vale
Quarterfinal: Finchampstead 3-0 Wallingford & Crowmarsh
Semi-final: Finchampstead 4-2 Windsor & Eton
Final Finchamstead 1-2 Didcot Town
Whilst they ultimately fell at the final hurdle, in a 2-1 defeat, the run itself was one to be incredibly proud of drawing a big crowd against the Division Two North side.
